02 Building - Aerial South East.jpg

King Toronto is a groundbreaking architectural landmark that reimagines luxury urban living at the heart of King West. Designed by the internationally renowned Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in collaboration with Westbank and Allied, this visionary mixed-use development transforms an entire city block into a lush, terraced village. Its pixelated façade rises like an urban mountain, seamlessly blending modern architecture with nature. The building’s sculptural form wraps around a central public plaza and incorporates preserved heritage structures, creating a striking interplay between old and new. Inside, an extraordinary collection of suites ranges from efficient studios to expansive penthouses—each designed to maximize light, air, and outdoor space. Residences offer panoramic city views, with many opening onto generous terraces adorned with greenery, creating a private oasis in the sky. Among its notable owners is Elton John, underscoring the building’s international appeal and status. Amenities are thoughtfully integrated throughout, including a serene central courtyard, state-of-the-art fitness and wellness spaces, curated public art installations, and elegant shared lounges - crafted to foster connection and elevate the everyday. Located in the heart of King West, one of Toronto’s most dynamic cultural and culinary destinations, King Toronto places residents amidst the neighbourhood’s storied laneways, acclaimed restaurants, boutique shops, and artistic institutions. It’s a rare opportunity to live in a design-forward, world-class residence that offers both a sense of community and an escape from the city - right in the middle of it.

Building Highlights

13 Courtyard - East View 2.jpg
SMART Architecture

King Toronto is a living architectural landmark that reimagines the skyline and the future of urban living. Inspired by Habitat 67, its sculptural form replaces the typical tower-and-podium with a pixelated landscape of peaks, valleys, and interlocking terraces. A publicly accessible central courtyard anchors the project, surrounded by preserved heritage façades and activated with new retail and cultural spaces. Set on a 45-degree grid, the building welcomes light deep into its core, while the shimmering façade glows throughout the day. Every residence features direct outdoor access—be it a balcony, garden, or terrace—framed by cascading greenery and living walls. King Toronto is more than architecture; it’s a vertical community rooted in wellness, connection, and bold design.

25 Living Room.jpg
THE ART OF LIVING

Inside King Toronto, each residence is a study in refined, modern living where industrial elegance meets timeless craftsmanship. The interiors feature bold materials, with kitchens offered in a choice of white oak, matte black laminate, or fluted glass, each paired with distinctive terrazzo or stainless steel surfaces. State-of-the-art Miele appliances are seamlessly integrated, reflecting the building’s commitment to exceptional quality. Custom-designed wood parquet floors in the living spaces echo the modular rhythm of the architecture. Bathrooms feature terrazzo-tiled floors, matte black fixtures, and coloured vanities that create a rich and tactile contrast. Feature lighting, designed by BIG, adds a sculptural glow, with mouth-blown glass pendants that reference the building’s signature glass-block facade. Every detail is thoughtfully crafted to balance warmth, sophistication, and the luminous character of King Toronto.

44 Amenities - Pool.jpg
Stunning Amenities

King Toronto offers an exceptional suite of amenities designed to elevate everyday life while fostering wellness, beauty, and connection. Inspired by the building’s sculptural form, the mountain-themed spa and Hammam centrepiece includes a dramatic indoor-outdoor pool, hot tub, and spa lounge. Residents will also enjoy a fully equipped fitness centre, yoga studio, rooftop terrace, and a games and party lounge with a chef’s kitchen. Each of the four mountain peaks features a distinct, thoughtfully designed residential lobby—North, East, South, and West—each with its own aesthetic theme, curated art, and custom fragrance. The East Atrium lobby includes a concierge desk sculpted by BIG and a custom-designed Fazioli piano, creating a warm and expressive welcome. With public areas envisioned as extensions of the home, King Toronto blends refined industrial materials with greenery, comfort, and artistry to deliver a truly immersive living experience.

THE PENTHOUSES

The Penthouses at KING Toronto mark a pivotal stage in this project's evolution, solidifying its status as a landmark in Toronto and the King Street West neighbourhood. Situated atop the North, South, East, and West "Mountains" of KING Toronto, these Penthouses soar above the dynamic cityscape, creating serene sanctuaries in the sky. Seamlessly merging nature's essence through lush foliage, mature trees, and outdoor terraces with airy, light-filled interiors, each residence encapsulates a distinct ambiance and aesthetic, culminating in the project's artistic vision. The North residence juxtaposes steel's raw texture with refined, luminous glass. In the South, sun-drenched interiors and expansive outdoor terraces form a natural haven in the sky, complemented by unique elements—a teahouse and a greenhouse—immersing the architecture in nature's embrace. The West embraces light as its core motif, celebrating and manipulating it to define spaces. Conversely, the East exudes warmth with Scandinavian influences, crafting tranquil, contemporary spaces accentuated by organic shapes and soothing details.

THE WESTBANK PIANO PROGRAM

The piano stands as an embodiment of KING Toronto's profound ethos, weaving through their architectural practices as both a showcase of the passion for craftsmanship present, and as a canvas for the designers' artistic expressions. Crafting a Fazioli piano is an avenue for architects to channel their creativity in a parallel yet distinct medium, akin to the iconic BMW Art Car program initiated by Alexander Calder in 1975 and culminating in Jeff Koons' work in 2010. Inspired by this fusion of art and industrial design, the Westbank Piano Program in collaboration with Paolo Fazioli challenges architects to design instruments that echo the essence of KING Toronto's unique typology. This inventive design journey enables the fostering of the evolving and adventurous spirits with each unique piano creation. As long as Paolo Fazioli's collaboration endures, KING Toronto's aim remains to continually surprise and delight. The latest addition introduces an extraordinary custom-designed piano in a collaboration between Elton John and Fazioli, capturing the vibrant essence of both the singer and KING Toronto's 'Out of This World' personality.

A CULTURAL IMPACT

THE WESTBANK PUBLIC ART PROGRAM

Over the last two decades, Westbank has emerged as a global leader in championing public art, collaborating with accomplished artists worldwide. However, the canvas presented by KING Toronto stands unparalleled in grandeur, poised to host an extraordinary public artwork destined for Toronto's streets and plazas. Westbank's dedication to blending art with architecture drives their initiatives, seeking installations that not only challenge architectural norms but also stimulate contemplation beyond structural confines. The envisaged suspended art installation within KING Toronto's central courtyard ignites their creative vision. Aligning with the City of Toronto's process, Westbank will invite three or four artists who will be carefully selected through a juried process. They are confident in attracting top-tier talent whose proposals will meet their ambitions and echo the desires of Toronto's people. Even more, Westbank is committed to ensuring that the courtyard art installation combines with BIG’s embracing architectural expression to form a single, larger work of art, worthy of the space and transformative for the neighbourhood and the city.

Westbank (King Toronto).png
13 Courtyard - East View 2.jpg

Westbank is a practice dedicated to the creation of beauty, in all forms and in the broadest definition. As we have grown, the category of a developer has become too narrow to contain the essence of our practice. We are not motivated by the same things as a developer; our values are different. We invite collaborations with cultural pioneers, showcasing their work and allowing it to inform and influence our projects. We strive to develop relationships with creatives so that we function as patrons of their art, rather than as consumers of artistic services. We embrace our eclectic nature, broadening our interests and seeking out willing collaborators in art, culture, music, fashion, technology, sustainability, and architecture, while taking on projects at every scale — from the micro to the macro level. We are, and have always been, a practice seeking to make meaningful contributions to the cities in which we work, and we see the creation of beauty as the means to this end.

ALLIED.png
BIG (Architecture).png

Allied operates on the fundamental belief that real estate is, above all, a human endeavour. Its properties are managed by people, for people, with a portfolio thoughtfully built to serve those who work within its buildings. In 2003, Allied became a public company with the specific goal of consolidating high-quality workspaces - paving the way to becoming a leading owner, manager, and developer of urban office properties in Canada. The company’s dedication to distinctive urban workspace is grounded in a clear value proposition: offering well-designed, centrally located, and cost-effective spaces that deliver social, cultural, and economic value to both users and the surrounding communities. Allied views each building as a meaningful investment in its neighbourhood, acknowledging the deep connection between a community’s strength and the performance of the properties it supports.

BIG is a Copenhagen, New York and London based group of architects, designers, urbanists, landscape professionals, interior and product designers, researchers and inventors. The office is currently involved in a large number of projects throughout Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. BIG’s architecture emerges out of a careful analysis of how contemporary life constantly evolves and changes. Not least due to the influence from multicultural exchange, global economical flows and communication technologies that all together require new ways of architectural and urban organization. BIG believes that in order to deal with today’s challenges, architecture can profitably move into a field that has been largely unexplored. A pragmatic utopian architecture that steers clear of the petrifying pragmatism of boring boxes and the naïve utopian ideas of digital formalism.
